Description
The Archaeological Museum – Nessebar was founded in 1956. Its first exhibition was located in the church of “St. John the Baptist”, and since 1994 it has been housed in a specially designed museum building by architect Hristo Koev. The exhibition “Nessebar Through the Ages” presents valuable archaeological and cultural monuments, revealing the history of ancient Mesambria and medieval Nessebar. The museum has a foyer and four exhibition halls, and among the most significant exhibits is the diploma for the inclusion of Old Nessebar in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list in 1983.
